DR. STACEY CHAPPELL
DVM, Owner
In late August 2013, Dr. Otterburn announced his retirement and shared the exciting news that Dr. Stacey Chappell would be the practice’s new owner. A native of Greensboro, Dr. Chappell grew up just minutes from Animal Medical Centre of Greensboro and is thrilled to practice in the neighborhood where his passion for veterinary medicine began. Dr. Chappell is a seasoned veterinarian with 20+ years’ of experience with small animals. He spent most of his career as the owner and medical director of a veterinary emergency hospital, where he gained vast experience in diagnosing and treating critical care patients and performing advanced surgical procedures.
Dr. Chappell enjoyed the challenging experience of emergency medicine, but he missed being able to form lasting relationships with his clients and patients, share in the joys of new puppies and kittens, and educate clients about preventive medicine. At Animal Medical Centre, Dr. Chappell looks forward to being your partner in your pet’s care and providing client-centric services in a relaxed atmosphere. Dr. Chappell is a graduate of Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time outdoors with his sons, John Thomas and Lucius, and their myriad of dogs, cats, reptiles, and horses.
DR. ELAINE POORE
DVM
Dr. Poore joined our team in 2017. She graduated from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in 2003. For the first six years after graduation, Dr. Poore was in equine practice. She shifted to small animal practice in 2009. Dr. Poore enjoys all aspects of practice, from puppy and kitten visits to complicated surgical procedures and geriatric pet care. When she’s not having fun taking care of dogs and cats (and sometimes other critters), Dr. Poore loves being with her two children and husband, having adventures. Their family includes their dogs, cats, chickens and rabbits.
KELLEY
Kelley is a Greensboro native who graduated from Western Carolina University in 2008 with a B.S. in Therapeutic Recreation. After three years in the field, she decided to switch to the animal side and began working as a kennel attendant/vet assistant in 2011. Fast forward a couple of years, and she added the role of inventory management to a new practice. She joined the team at AMC in March 2017. She loves getting to know the clients and caring for their “fur babies.” She has two feline fur babies of her own, Tiger and NutNut. In her free time, Kelley enjoys crafting, vintage shopping, relaxing at home, and spending time with friends and family.
JENNIFER
Jennifer is a lifelong resident of North Carolina, born on the outskirts of Randleman and living most of her life in the rural areas surrounding Greensboro. Destined for this career, Jen grew up in a veterinary clinic, where she worked regularly with her mother, who worked as a veterinary technician and wildlife rehabilitator. At the age of 14, Jen got her first job working after school as a kennel attendant. Learning all she could between her kennel duties, she quickly knew that animal medicine would be her life career choice.
She was later hired as a veterinary assistant in the spring of 2001 and worked her way up the ladder at the same clinic as the Lead Technician until the clinic closed in late summer of 2016. She joined the AMC family in August 2016. When Jen isn’t caring for “fur babies” at the clinic, she devotes her time to her daughter Maisyn and spends time with her own furry children: an English Mastiff named Ruby Ann and two sweet feline rescues named Asher and Rocket.
Candace
Candace moved to Greensboro in 2018 after moving around quite a bit with her dad being in the military. She moved around until the age of 16, when her dad retired, and the family settled in Greensboro in 1998. She first got into veterinary medicine at the age of 20, starting out as a kennel assistant and working her way up to veterinary assistant. She worked for a day practice for ten years before moving over to a 24-hour ER/specialty hospital. She was promoted to ER supervisor, where she stayed for over four years before taking a break from management and working primarily in the ICU department. In October 2020, she decided to change back to daytime hours and joined Animal Medical Centre of Greensboro.
In her free time, Candace enjoys gardening, reading, singing, and hanging out with family and friends. She has one dog (Zeek), two cats (Tortellini and Tuxedo), and one fish (Jelly Bean).
Michelle
Michelle grew up in Pleasant Garden but is now a resident of Randleman. She started out as a kennel attendant and worked her way up to being a veterinary assistant, where she spent 18 years in emergency vet medicine. She joined the AMC family in May 2021. Michelle and her family have one dog, a Shih Tzu named Jasper. When not working, she loves traveling or relaxing at home with her husband and spending time with her family.
Remy
Remy was born in New York but has been living in North Carolina for over ten years. He has been working with animals since 2016 and started working at AMC in early 2023. He has three dogs (Ollie, Indica, and Dopey) and one snake (Reznik).
VY
Vy is a Vietnamese immigrant who is presently attending classes at Appalachian State University to become a Veterinary Technologist after switching professions from daycare teacher. Working as a kennel staff member is her first step in gaining basic knowledge of working with animals, in addition to attending school, which will give her a greater understanding of what a veterinary technician’s daily routine will be like after she graduates. Despite the language barrier, she is working hard to learn everything essential for accomplishing the goals she has set.
She enjoys volunteering and giving back to the community, in addition to caring for “fur babies.” During her free time, she enjoys reading books and comics, visiting temples, enjoying nature, and tasting a variety of cultural dishes.
Jordan
Bio coming soon.
OPAL
Opal is a very special English Mastiff who is beloved by clients and staff for her gentle nature and goofy mannerisms. She was born in 2017 and quickly became one of AMC’s official mascots. She’s a gentle giant with a loud bark and a huge heart!
Ritz
Ritz came to us as a feral kitten in May of 2021 at the age of 8 weeks old. He spends his time playing with dogs, comforting the sick/injured pets, napping, or bird-watching in one of the windows. So, basically doing what cats do best… whatever they want! Some days, he will greet you at the front desk, but he also enjoys keeping an eye on things in the back.
